"Volunteers are not paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."
Hospice Support Care conducts volunteer training programs for anyone:
- Wanting to become a hospice volunteer
- Wishing to learn about death and dying
- Working in the health care or mental health profession wishing to enhance their skills
- Active in church leadership or community outreach wishing to increase their knowledge
- Wishing to increase their knowledge of death and dying.
Volunteers are the HEART of Hospice Support Care. Without them, we could not fulfill our mission. Our volunteers are important to every part of our organization. Some volunteers prefer to do event planning or office work, some want to be "in the trenches" with the patients. The opportunities for involvement are as numerous as the personalities involved...whatever your particular talent, there is something you can do to help. We are in need of volunteers in all our current programs, and more volunteers are needed in order to incorporate new programs.
In addition to Family Care and Bereavement, we have additional opportunities for you to serve by volunteering for us. Some of these are:
- Volunteer Voices: Help us educate the area residents about our mission.
- Special events/Fundraising: Help us plan one of our events.
- Office/Admin: Help with clerical duties, data entry, receptionist, and other tasks.
HSC has regularly scheduled training programs. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in giving back to the community and, at the same time, participating in a most satisfying form of volunteerism, please contact the office at (540) 361-7071, come by the office at 2215 Fall Hill Ave, Fredericksburg, VA or e-mail our volunteer coordinator.
