Activities and Games

The Life Book- An book you can print. Children can draw in it and color. The Life Books allows for expression of feelings and facilitates rememberance.

The Angry Head- Kids write down or draw things that make them angry inside "The Angry Head". Then take several plastic bandages and use a ballpoint pen to write down different things that help with anger. Cover the words and drawings in "The Angry Head" with the bandages.

Maze- Sometimes its a long road to feeling better. Help Sam find his way from sad to happy.

Word Find- With grief and loss-related terms.

Dot-to-dot: When someone dies, we may not feel whole, like something is missing.  With help, we can feel better.  Help Fred feel better by connecting the dots.

The sharing ball: Purchase a regular playground ball and a permanent marker. On the ball, write down words all over the ball. Words should be about feelings, people, events, etc...anything that facilitates talking. You can also have commands like jump or hug. Have children toss the ball to each other. When a child catches the ball, have him look at their left thumb. Whatever word is closest to his thumb, he has to speak about it.

Parachute games- (group activity) If you don't have a parachute, a large sheet will do.
